About Karen Huller & Charésumé
Karen Huller founded Charésumé to bridge the gap between where individuals are and where they want to be in their career. She accomplishes this by providing knowledge, strategy, coaching, and tools, such as cover letters, résumés and thank you letters. Her clients are active participants, ensuring that they learn the life skill of transitioning. Her talent lies in her ability to impart words and expression for those who do not have the time or ability to find the most powerful, succinct verbiage. Mrs. Huller’s life path has brought her from research and writing to broadcasting, sales, and, finally, to a five-year career in the employment industry. Her portfolio includes résumés, executive biographies, portfolios, magazine articles, news copy for radio, advertising materials, corporate letters, training manuals, song lyrics, and poems.
Mrs. Huller has her Bachelor of Arts from Ursinus College in Communication Studies and Theater with a minor in Creative Writing. Her academic dedication earned her four semesters on the National Dean’s List and a research fellowship opportunity to complete a Rhetorical Analysis. Outside of class, she divvied her time between co-editing and writing articles for The Grizzly campus newspaper, managing News and Advertising for WVOU, the campus radio station, and various other roles within her sorority and on her rugby team. Her advisor recommended her to a community radio station for an on-air position summarizing and reporting local news stories. She spent a couple of years as a part-time disc jockey there before she graduated.
Continuing her work in broadcasting, Mrs. Huller worked for an Atlantic City media group producing three popular talk radio shows. She also lent her voice to radio and television spots and public service announcements. Though this was an enjoyable vocation, it did not offer the stability or financial rewards Mrs. Huller was seeking. Her financial support came mostly from temporary work. She soon moved into sales and team leadership, marketing new business services for a large telecommunications corporation. She satisfied her creative tendencies by joining a band, Harpers Ferry, with whom she still performs and writes music today.
While Mrs. Huller maintained part-time hours at the Atlantic City Broadcasting Company, she had spent several months working full-time as a temporary administrator within the Human Resources department of a non-casino resort. She managed incoming applicants and scheduled interviews. Eventually she left sales and heavily pursued opportunities within the employment industry. She joined a small team of executive placement professionals as a Research Consultant. Primarily, Mrs. Huller sourced passive candidates from some of the most highly-recruited firms. Additionally, she aided the Managing Director in researching new business ventures.
Many people experienced career slow-down after 9/11, including Mrs. Huller. This is when she learned the value of professional advice. Using professionally tested methods from several authorities across various industries, her path to recruiter was accelerated. She found herself promoted to the role within three months at one of the top IT staffing firms in the Philadelphia region. This role cemented Mrs. Huller’s desire to pass on the keys to good fortune, improving people’s lives through their work.
The interaction with candidates and hiring managers over her three years as an IT Recruiter supplied an insightful education on how employers, including Fortune 500 Pharmaceutical and Financial Services companies, identify talent out of a pool of candidates. Further, she became very familiar with the phraseology and behavior that consistently aided candidates through the placement process to the offer. Mrs. Huller identified the need in the market to help companies take notice of the talented individuals they need to be successfully, especially with the largest American generation leaving the workforce. Now, she has the ability to dedicate her time to the job seeker to fulfill this need. Every step within her own career has contributed to her ability to be successful in this mission and in her path lie many successful and happy former/future working professionals.
